Going, Going, Gone!
To a Good Cause as Aldi Releases 20 Limited Edition Kevin’s to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust
- 20 brand new festive limited-edition Kevin the Carrot toys to be auctioned on eBay at 8pm on Monday 16th December
- This year Kevin sold out in one day online
Following the launch of its sell-out cuddly carrot range on ‘Orange Thursday’ last month and just two weeks after it was revealed that Kevin the Carrot had earned a place in the Museum of Brands, Aldi is auctioning twenty limited-edition festive Kevin plush toys in a bid to raise even more money for Teenage Cancer Trust. See them here.
The special editions of the nation’s favourite cuddly root vegetable, dressed up in festive outfits, will be auctioned through an official eBay partnership from 8pm on Monday 16thDecember. Fans will have the chance to bid over five days and all proceeds will go to charity.
Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK comments: “This year has shown that the love for Kevin shows no sign of slowing as he continues to steal the hearts of shoppers up and down the UK. We’re delighted to be partnering once again with eBay on this initiative to help raise even more money for a fantastic cause. We hope Kevin’s loyal fan base will take us one step closer to reaching our £5 million fundraising target for Teenage Cancer Trust – to help ensure that no young person faces cancer alone.”
The auction is expected to be of huge interest, as eBay reveals searches for Aldi’s must-have plush toys on the marketplace saw almost two searches every second the day the toys first appeared in stores. What’s more, on 28th November ‘Kevin the Carrot’ was the third most searched term on the entire website.
Rob Hattrell, Vice President of eBay UK said: “It’s great to have Kevin back on eBay again, and brilliant to able to help Aldi raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust. We’re really proud that eBay for Charity has helped raise over £375,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust since 2011 and more than £160 million for charities in the UK. We’re rooting for all Kevin fans to get bidding on Monday to support this important cause.”
